Brick Cottage Event Center

We have spent many hours giving her a new life and are happy to share with all of you.

We have been told that this building is possibly the oldest standing Brick structure on this side of the river.  It did not flood in 2008!

If you were here at the time this was called “The Island of 2008”.

She is also a great history lesson.

You will be holding your event in an historical venue. She was built during the Civil War Era, if only the walls could talk. The wood addition was added in the 1870’s.

As you enter you will walk on all original wood floors, that are well over 150 yrs old. The walls are double stacked brick, no wood 2x4’s in this structure. If you look at the walls on the outside you see how the bricks are assembled. They go 2 different directions. See if you can find them.

As you enter the main event room, look up. The catwalk you see had a ceiling and 4 rooms within this area. The ceiling was removed to expose all her charm. The catwalk is what holds the room together, because again, double stacked brick needs this. It’s the heart that keeps her alive.

                                                                                    Imagine life then..4 small rooms..

She has been given a new dress. Her roof, paint, porch, gutters, downspouts, and landscaping have made her pretty again.

Her interior has also been given a warm feeling. She has seen the addition of an all new bathroom. A food prep area, containing a sink and counters. Antique doors make up part of the base of counters, salvaged tiles make up her top. The chimney is now visible to appreciate the age and patina. Cedar pallets were repurposed to give the bracing in the ceiling of prep area new life.

The next room has a food serving area containing a table, refrigerator, and counters.

The catwalk area in the event room has antique heavy, solid wood doors to create the panel look. My husband and I put those up by ourselves, trust me they are solid wood! Each piece on the catwalk was chosen just for here. Some of the items are from a recent trip to Waco, yes some from the same places that the Gaines family shops in. The rest of them are from many girls days out at Antique shops, others are from many travels throughout the United States. New paint in all the rooms are a refreshing change.

It is our hope that her heart will warm yours. Bring your event to us. She can seat 25 to 30 people. Tables and chairs are provided.
